David Liban, Assistant professor of film/Video
David Liban has worked in the television and film
business since 1987. He has produced and directed numerous independent productions
from fiction to documentary, in addition to his live-to-tape television
studio production experiences.
Liban's films and videos have received numerous awards
from both national and international film festivals. In January 2003, he
completed a short film called, Smithee's Lecture which screened
at the NY Metropolitan Museum of Art in April 2003.
Using the material from Smithee's Lecture he
has created an educational resource for instructors teaching video editing.
It is being marketed and distributed through First Light Publishers.
His film documentary, Carhenge: Genius
or Junk? is a 30 minute program detailing the origins and obstacles of the Carhenge's plight. Carhenge
is a to-scale replica of Stonehenge made out of 38 junked automobiles. The film was nominated for an Emmy - Cultural Documentary- 43rd Midwestern Emmy in 2007.
David's latests releases, Geocache and The Ghosts of Elitch Theatre, were debuted during the fall 2007 CAM events season on September 14.
Liban has also produced a promotional film for UCD's Business School. The film can be seen at http://thunder1.cudenver.edu/business/movie.htm.
