Craig Volk, assistant professor of Theatre/film/Video
CRAIG
VOLK is assistant professor in the Department of Theatre, Film
and Video Production teaching scriptwriting and screenwriting. He earned
his B.A. in English and a double M.A. in English and Theatre from the
University of South Dakota. He earned M.F.A. in Playwriting/Screenwriting
from the Yale School of Drama.
Volk is an instructor in the Writer's Program at UCLA, having held assistant professor appointments in theatre at UC-Davis and Green Mountain College in Vermont.
Professor Volk's writing credits include work as the producer of the series, "Higher Ground", for Fox Family Television, executive creative consultant for the syndicated series, "The Adventures of Sinbad", executive story editor for "Charley Grace" (ABC/Viacom) and "Marker" (UPN). He was a staff writer for the hit series, "Northern Exposure" and wrote pilots for CBS, ABC and a feature film for Showtime while under contract at Viacom.
As a free-lance writer, Volk wrote episodes for "Days and Nights of Molly Dodd" and "Diagnosis Murder" among others. His original plays have been produced at Lincoln Center, Actors Theatre at Louisville, Yale Rep, the George Street Playhouse, and the Denver Center Theatre Company.
