2+2 Cinematography and Post-Production Emphases (BFA)
Set up the cameras, capture the action, and incorporate sound, music, and special effects: Welcome to the world of cinematographers and editors! These areas of filmmaking are offered through a unique partnership with the Community College of Aurora (CCA). Students interested in Writing/Directing may also choose to participate in this partnership (please visit our website for additional information about programmatic differences). Students must begin their studies through CCA and may choose to complete an Associate of General Studies (AGS) prior to transfer. Upon completing the first 36 major credits, students transfer to the University of Colorado Denver’s College of Arts & Media to hone their skills through the advanced film courses. Whether students are enrolled at CCA or through the University, most of the major courses are taught at the Lowry campus.
Education for Future Professionals
Students complete the 22 credits of Theatre, Film, and Television foundation courses and then select an emphasis and complete all 51 listed credits within that emphasis area. Foundation courses include: Production/Post Production, Scriptwriting, Performance Visualization, Scenery Lab, Costume Lab, Camera Equipment Lab, and Technology and Acting Lab. All major courses must be completed with a C (2.0) or better.
You won’t have to go far to gain valuable experience in your field. Budding theatre students have their own Theatre Buffs Club. TheatreBuffs provides self-directed theatrical opportunities to the students of the Auraria Campus.
